Putting Fun into Fundraising

Belswan residents really know how to enjoy themselves and if it can be combined for a good cause they are even more enthusiastic. Both the Pinjarra and Mandurah Lifestyle Villages held Big Morning Teas that were both well attended and generously supported financially for Cancer Council research.

The Pinjarra Village laid on a feast for 106 guest made up of village residents and their friends. They enjoyed the story telling of MC Robb Dunn who revved up bids for raffles, auctions and finished the event encouraging all onto the dance floor.

The resulting funds raised by all of the above was a very generous $2210.

The hard working committee have already started work on next year’s event which they promise will be even bigger and better than this year.

The Mandurah Village, Big Morning Tea, was a year in the planning for Kate Lamers-Rolfe which attracted 90 people and with lots more dropping off donations. Prizes for the day came from K Mart Mandurah, Greenfields Discount Chemist as well as scarfs and beanies from the village craft group. One resident donated $200 she earned from clothing alterations she did for others.

A fun exercise to promote the Big Morning Tea was a “Tour de Village” by residents some in fancy dress backed up by a first aid rider with bike pump and patches for any minor incidents. This enjoyable event raised another $1689 for the Cancer Council.
