Daphne’s father was a policemen who had many country postings so she got a taste of country life. She and her husband were living in Bateman’s Bay, NSW, Clarrie selling dry cleaning equipment and she running the TAB at the local bowling club when their daughter moved to Perth and suggested they follow.
Their daughter reviewed Lifestyle villages and then made a video of her choice – a Belswan Pinjarra home and sent it to her parents. Clarrie’s question, “would you live there?” her response “yes I would” so they made the move. Clarrie who has since passed away loved his street front garden and bowls. Daphne got great support from her friends in the Belswan community and keeps in touch with all the activities at the village clubhouse something unlikely to happen in suburbia.
